Among the German customs is the “Betriebsausflug” something special:
due to the laws and its interpretation a company can grant its people (as an incentive) an excursion, organized by the committee of colleagues. My companies excursion happened yesterday and I went with a lot of colleagues to Regensburg. An impressive list of possible To Dos was proposed like seeing the sights, taking a boat on the Danube, cycling and more.
I choose apart from eating with and talking to my colleagues to visit the Thurn & Taxis residence, the ancient monastery St. Emmeran and then to talk a walk through the city …

And so I have tickets for some new and some older presentations of operas at the Opernfestspiele:
- Turandot by Puccini and Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The seraglio) by Mozart
- La Juive by Halévy and Der feurige Engel by Prokofjew and South Pole by Srnka
All are interesting operas in their own right (for historical and/or musical reasons), but the music performance was in the case of South Pole, La Juive and Der feurige Engel exceptional.
Here are some impressions ….
Twice a year an alternative festival is staged in Munich – in the summer at the Olympiagelände, next to the stadium: Tollwood!
It is not to be missed if you are visiting Munich now, because there you get only organic food from around the world, stuff like clothes etc. and free concerts from bands of all kind. And also street performances from all over Europe (look out for the couch).
As the origin of the festival is the care for our environment, it has always a motto – this year it is about the oceans and water and the waste to be found there …

Last week there were some nice days with sun which you can enjoy at places like the Weißenburger Platz: it is situated at Haidhausen, easily reached via S-Bahn and part of a nice old quarter, with lots of restaurants and not far from Gasteig, the cultural convention centre with all kind of events.
For the week-end the weather was quite the contrary as I watched my first American Football game: it rained, but not enough to make us leave! Too bad that the Munich Cowboys lost …
Anyway, it was completely different from soccer:
lots of people standing around, then some action and again more waiting and the throwing AND kicking of the ellipsoid.
